Lara is an adult female loggerhead turtle released with a satellite transmitter on the 24th of June 2026 from Lara Bay. Her shell measured 78 cm curved carapace length and 66 cm curved carapace width.
Her name was chosen in honour of Lara Bay, the heart of the Cyprus Turtle Conservation and Research Project, where conservation efforts began in 1978. Through her name, Lara carries the story of this Mediterranean jewel and the decades of dedication devoted to protecting the marine turtles of Cyprus.
