PROJECT FUNDING
European Union LIFE Programme
The project LIFE ADAPTS is a co-funded European Union initiative that aims to identify the impacts of climate change on marine turtles and the Mediterranean monk seal and to implement adaptation measures to ensure their populations continue to thrive in the Mediterranean.
Rising sea levels and increasing temperatures caused by climate change are altering the balance of marine and coastal ecosystems, affecting nesting and pupping sites, reproductive dynamics and food availability. In a time of accelerating environmental change, adaptation is essential for safeguarding biodiversity and ensuring ecosystems can withstand future pressures.
Planned actions of LIFE ADAPTS combine scientific research, conservation efforts, and community engagement to develop long-term strategies for the protection of marine turtles and the Mediterranean monk seal in Cyprus, Greece and Italy.
