Through a collaboration with the Sea Turtle Conservancy, MedTRACS uses satellite telemetry to study the movements and behaviour of marine turtles in the Eastern Mediterranean. By fitting turtles with satellite transmitters, we can follow their migrations, identify important feeding and breeding habitats, and better understand the challenges they face throughout their life cycle. The information collected supports scientific research and helps guide evidence-based conservation and management actions. At the same time, satellite tracking provides a unique educational opportunity, allowing the public to follow individual turtles online and learn about their remarkable journeys while raising awareness of the need to protect these species.
